“there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity” Luke 21:25
BEIRUT (AP) — The Islamic State group’s spokesman said its fighters are ready to battle a US-led military coalition, casting it as a historic clash between Muslims and their enemies and calling for attacks at home and abroad.
Abu Mohammed al-Adnani’s 42-minute audio statement, which appeared to be a rallying cry, was the group’s latest response to efforts by US President Barack Obama to form a global coalition against it.
He said the group welcomed the possibility of a ground war with the US, and he called on Muslims worldwide to kill civilians of nations that join the coalition.
Quebec: A 25-year-old Quebec man killed by police after striking two Canadian Forces personnel with his car was known to national anti-terrorism investigators as someone who had taken to radical Islam, the RCMP says. Story here.
Ottawa, Ontario Canada: A Canadian soldier standing guard at a war memorial in the country’s capital was shot to death Wednesday, and gunfire then erupted inside Parliament, authorities said. One gunman was killed, and police said they were hunting for as many as two others. Canada had raised its domestic terror threat level from low to medium Tuesday because of “an increase in general chatter from radical Islamist organizations,” said a spokesman for the public safety minister.
New York: A broad-daylight hatchet assault on a group of New York police officers — leaving one critically injured with a head wound — was carried out by a self-radicalized convert to Islam in what officials termed a terrorist attack.
Attacks in West Raise New Fears Over ISIS’ Influence: Cairo — The British police arrest four men accused of plotting a bombing on the scale of the Mumbai hotel attack six years ago. The Australian authorities arrest a ring of 12 accused of plotting daring murders, including a public beheading.
The series of episodes over just the last four weeks is raising new fears about the capacity of the extremists who call themselves the Islamic State to catalyze so-called lone-wolf attacks, conceived and carried out by individuals/small groups around the Western world who may have little or no connection to the Islamic State.
There is no evidence that any of the episodes were carried out by any centrally organized terror network. But in each case the violence was plotted or executed by individuals moved by the messages of Islamist extremists, and all took place in the one month since the Islamic State began exhorting Muslims in the West to commit such acts.
Top congressional Democrat, and Republican both warned Sunday about more “lone wolf” attacks, inspired by Islamic jihad and easily promulgated through Internet propaganda. “The police and the military have to be on guard,” California Dem Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We need to think in some new ways.”
“Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.” I John 2:18
