Will Iran Fulfill Daniel 8 Now Saudi King Is Dead?

By: Nelson Walters 01/28/2015  [Author of Are We Ready For Jesus? How to Prepare for His Return (coming May 2015)]

We have seen in this post “ARE WE ABOUT TO SEE IRAN FULFILL DANIEL 8?” that a war between the Sunni and Shia Muslims is about to explode across the Middle East.  This war will usher in the career of the Antichrist himself.  Not only does the Bible predict this war, but the Islamic “holy” writings do as well.  Despite the fact their writings are uninspired, they still predict this war and that it will give rise to the Mahdi, their “messiah” figure.  We know from “PULVERIZED” and “THE FOURTH SIGNPOST: THE BEAST” that this Mahdi will in fact be our Antichrist!

Some of the uninspired Muslim writings mention the death of a “King Abdullah” and a war in Syria as an important signs before the coming of the Mahdi.  So we must ask the question, will Iran fulfill Daniel 8 now Saudi King is dead?

We have learned that Daniel 8 is prophecy for our time, NOT prophecy fulfilled in ancient times.   If you haven’t read the article at the top of the page yet and have questions about this fact, I suggest you start there then return to this article because it provides essential background information.  Those seeking even more detailed information should purchase the book Daniel Revisited by Mark Davidson.

The Saudi Kings and Their Link to Prophecy

Shia Muslims especially, await their Mahdi like Christians anticipate the return of Christ.  Their sacred writings tell of the rise of this Islamic “messiah,” and the steps necessary for him to return.  One of the steps Shia Muslims in particular, have been waiting for is the death of Saudi King Abdullah.  These writings seem to imply his death will precede the rise of the Mahdi (Antichrist).

On doomsday, a man who is carrying the name of an animal ascends to the throne, after which a man named Abdullah comes to the power. Whoever informs me of his death, I will inform him of the rise [of Mahdi]. After Abdullah passes away, for several days and months, the government will appear” (Ghaybat Al-Tusi).

The predecessor to Abdullah was King Fahd whose name means “the cheetah” (the name of an animal).  The Shia Muslims look at this hadith and see fulfillment in these two former Saudi Kings, and many now believe the coming of their Mahdi is near.

The Syrian Civil War is the Next Link

Shia Muslims think the next step to the rise of the Mahdi is a war with the Sunni Muslims over control of Syria.  This war sounds shockingly like what Daniel 8 prophesies about the Great Sunni/Shia war.  Immediately after the death of King Abdullah, an Al-Monitorarticle appeared that discussed these Islamic prophetic writings in detail.  That article has been removed from the Internet (I find that removal interesting to say the least).  However we do have this article that discusses the original article in detail.  I read the original article in Al-Monitor and can attest to what this Prophecy News Digestarticle asserts.

The original article in Al-Monitor mentioned that the prophecies are found in a Muslim “holy” book called Al-Jafr.  They confirm many of the “prophecies” in the 2011 Iranian film The Coming Is Upon Us.  This film suggests that the Supreme leader of Iran, Khamenei,  and the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, are re-incarnations of of individuals mentioned in the prophecies or they fulfill the prophecies.  Devout Shiities seeing what they believe as prophecy fulfilled before their eyes are driven to participate in the fulfillment of their other prophecies to bring about the coming of their Mahdi (our Antichrist.)

Those “other prophecies” involve a war with the Sunni Muslims in Syria.  The Al-Jahr prophecies indicate that Sunni Muslims will temporarily win the civil war in Syria and kill its current leader (Al-Assad.)  As an aside, I wonder how Al-Assad feels about this “prophecy” which calls for his murder?

What Does The Bible Say?

Returning to the true and inspired prophecies, Daniel 8 describes how Iran initiates the great Sunni-Shia war.

Then I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a ram (Iran) which had two horns was standing in front of the canal. Now the two horns were long, but one was longer than the other, with the longer one coming up last.  I saw the ram butting westward, northward, and southward, and no other beasts could stand before him nor was there anyone to rescue from his power, but he did as he pleased and magnified himself. (Dan. 8; 3-4 NASB, clarification mine)

In the article from this site referenced at the beginning of this post, we explain in detail why the “ram” is Iran.  If you need to understand the prophecy, check out the article.  Of great importance are the directions the ram head-butts: west, north, and south.  West and north of Iran are Iraq and Syria, and south of Iran is Saudi Arabia.

The recent Shiite revolution in Yemen may be related to this invasion of Saudi Arabia (head-butting south).  The oil rich Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia may also be a target of the Iranians because it has a majority Shia population.

North and west of Iran and Iraq and Syria.  The Shia expect the Sunni to win the civil war in Syria temporarily.  It may well be that Iran is waiting for ISIS to win in Syria before attacking so their “prophecies” can be fulfilled prior to their invasion.  Although this reason is not found in our inspired scriptures, it makes logical sense that the Iranians will trust their “holy” writings.

What Iran does not expect, of course, is the rest of the story.  Our Bible clearly shows that after Iran invades the Middle East, Turkey or a coalition of Sunni countries with Turkey in control, will counter-attack and crush Iran.  Again please refer to the original article for more information.

Why Are Islamic “Prophecies” Close to Being Accurate?

The final question you may be asking is why are the prophecies of a false religion accurate?  One reason is that the writers had access to the Bible and it’s scriptures, and may have twisted what they read there.  An additional reason is potential demonic influence.  Many of the writers claim angelic assistance in the writing.  Was this the assistance of fallen angels?

What ever the reason, the Iranians and their allies believe in their scriptures and are determined to see them fulfilled.  This may be a factor that ultimately leads to the fulfillment of our true and inspired prophecies in Daniel 8.  Source here.
