The early church Christians were persecuted, and Christians have certainly been attacked throughout history, as Jesus and the apostles foretold. However, Jesus told His disciples on the mount of Olives (Matt 24), that persecution would pick up in the last days, increasing like labor pains, until even the the martyrs in Heaven cry out against the lengthy and intense ordeal (Rev 6:9-11). We should remember 2 things: (1) “Blessed [are] … Continue reading Islamic State Shoots and Beheads 30 Ethiopian Christians in Libya
Best selling Author, Joel Richardson: “One of the things that we always need to be careful of, is building our theology around one verse.” Based on Daniel 9:26, “many have concluded that the Antichrist and his religion would come out of Europe, and so today many people are looking to the next Pope to be the Antichrist.”
“And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary”
“The people (the primary followers) of the prince (the False Prophet) that will come (in the last days), shall destroy the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (the Jewish Temple).”
Looking at this verse, many believe that since Titus and the Romans were the people who destroyed Jerusalem, in 70 AD, the people of the prince to come (Antichrist), in the last days, would also be Romans (Italians or Europeans).
However, this is a Western view, and the Bible is an Eastern centered book that revolves around Jerusalem, Israel and Middle East.
Further, “History tells us that by 70 AD, the recruiting patterns of the Roman army were such that they recruited from the provincial peoples. In other words, those that were not Italians, but those that lived on the outskirts of Rome’s vast empire, comprised of many peoples…History tells us that the peoples that destroyed Jerusalem, in 70 AD, were overwhelmingly Syrians, the Arabs and the Egyptians that lived in that region that Rome recruited for their armies. Josephus, Tacitus, modern Roman scholars are consistent that it was the eastern peoples that destroyed Jerusalem, not Europeans.”

Ancient Babylon included the territories now known as (1) Iraq (2) Syria, (3) Turkey, (4) Saudi Arabia, (5) Jordan, (6) Lebanon, (7) Israel (Palestinians).
